Terms of use
Last updated: September 30, 2026
- Learn as much as you like, and use the lessons with your class or your kids.
- Only practise on computers you own or have written permission to use.
- Commands can break real systems. Try things in a lab first; we can't be responsible for damage.
- Ohio law applies.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to computerhackingtools.com, run as "Computer Hacking Tools" ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them, and to the acceptable use policy, which is part of them. If you're under 18, please read them with a parent, guardian or teacher.
2. What the site is
Computer Hacking Tools teaches Linux, servers, security and AI through lessons, quizzes and a practice terminal. The practice terminal is a simulation that runs in your browser: it is not a real computer, and nothing you type in it reaches a real server. We may add, change or remove lessons and features at any time.
3. Learn responsibly
The security lessons teach you to defend systems you're responsible for. Using what you learn to get into, scan, test or disrupt any computer, network or account without the owner's permission is not allowed, and in most countries it's a crime, even if you "only looked". The acceptable use policy has the details.
4. Using our content
The lessons, quizzes, pictures, practice terminal and other material on the site belong to Computer Hacking Tools. You may:
- use them to learn, on your own or with others,
- use them to teach: show them in class, assign lessons, and print the cheat sheet, recipes and lessons for your students,
- link to any page and quote short parts with a link back.
Please don't copy whole lessons to another site or product, sell our content, or present it as your own. The Linux commands themselves are public knowledge: use them however you like.
5. No warranty
We work hard to make the lessons accurate, but the site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Linux, its tools and their defaults change over time, and commands that work in the practice terminal can behave differently on your own systems. Commands that change real servers (firewalls, SSH, users, disks, packages) can lock you out or lose data. Try them on a machine or virtual machine you can afford to break, and keep backups.
6. Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, Computer Hacking Tools isn't responsible for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or following its lessons, including lost data, downtime, or security problems on your own systems. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
7. Other websites
Lessons link to other websites, like the documentation for Rocky Linux, Ubuntu and the tools we teach. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.
8. Your privacy
How we handle information is explained in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or the site will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Ohio, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.
